AlicePH ID: #845
Alice is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local kill shelter. We believe she is about 5 or 6 years old. She is heartworm positive. She is a very tiny girl - only weighs 11 lbs - but is very big on attitude!

From Alice's foster: Alice is beyond adorable! She is an extremely tiny pug and that face…… there just aren’t words to adequately describe it. I’m not sure why, because she seems to have all her teeth, but her tongue hangs out all the time. She looks like she’s sticking it out at you because it doesn’t fall to either side of her mouth. Evidently she was pretty feisty at the clinic but since she has come home she has turned into a loving, sweet girl. She is too small to jump on the couch (at least she thinks she is – I think she could do it) so she just paws at me until I pick her up. Then it’s cuddle time until I have to get up for some reason. She also seems to be housetrained. She has slept with me every night since she arrived and seems to think that’s where she should be.

She seems to get along quite well with the other fosters. She has told Howie more than once to back off, but let me tell you he deserves it sometimes. Even for a pug, Alice is quite obsessed with food. She isn’t overly skinny so I’m not sure why but she gets a little crazed if she thinks there’s food anywhere that is accessible. I think when she leans that food will always be available she may get better. She’s not overly playful either, she will play with me sometimes but she very seldom plays with the others. She sits on my lap with her ears perked up watching them but doesn’t jump down to get involved.

If a sweet, loving, gently little lady is what you are looking for, she’s your girl! Alice is the perfect size to fit right in your heart!

AlliePH ID: #455
Allie is a fawn female. She is about 6 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is heartworm negative. Sweet little Allie is deaf and blind so she will need a home that is a safe environment. She is currently suffering from demodectic mange but she is on medication that will clear that shortly. She has not yet been spayed but will be prior to placement.

From Allie's foster: I've had Allie for a month now and she blossoms a little more every day. Contrary to what we initially believed she is not deaf, in fact I think she has fairly good hearing. She's like a child, she has selective hearing. I can be trying to find her and she acts like she can't hear me call her but you just let me open a bag of chips and she goes bonkers when she hears the bag crackle, that is definitely not deaf. She has started responding on a more consistent basis to her name being called. I believe the combination of a new name, the blindness and a new environment confused her.

Allie is an angel with a capital A! She loves to be held and will lay in my lap as long as I will sit still. She also likes to roam around the house, she is learning where things are and she seems to be enjoying herself. I was quite surprised to discover that she is housetrained. I put her out with the other guys and she does her business. I do have to go outside to bring her in most of the time, when I call her she can't seem to locate where my voice is coming from. But this is a vast improvement from a month ago, she use to just sit in the corner of the yard and wait for me to find her. She will actually come to the door if she's close enough to find it now.

Allie is also beautiful, she has such an expressive face and will just stare at me with her big brown eyes like she is really seeing me when I talk to her. Her ears will be perked up and she will cock her head from side to side. Allie deserves to have someone love her and give her the attention that she deserves. She really isn't a demanding little lady, she just wants to be loved. Please consider taking Allie into your heart and family, you will be forever grateful that she came into your life.

AndrewPH ID: #769
Andrew is a fawn male. He was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. We believe he is about 4 years old. It doesn't appear that anybody's been looking after him, as he has tested heartworm positive. He also has severely impaired vision. He will begin heartworm treatment soon. Meanwhile, he has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From Andrew's foster: In less than 24 hours he became completely spoiled rotten, and won me over. He snuggled so close to me last night, with his head on my pillow, laying flat on his back. He is a lover and wants to be touched and loved at all times. Once he got more comfortable in the house, he seems to get along pretty good, and walked around the pool this morning, and didn't fall in, but he is pretty blind. I took a few photos last night so you would have them, they don't do him justice, because he is the cutest thing ever!

AnthonyPH ID: #834
Meet Anthony! 3-4 year old HW+ male who will begin heartworm treatment in January 2012. Antony appears to have not been well taken care, and came to PugHearts with a variety of ailments. With some TLC he has blossomed into a lovely pet, and the only effect of his whole ordeal is dry eyes—which are easily managed with daily drops.

Anthony is quite the character, and is extremely people oriented. He enjoys the company of other dogs (large, small, male or female), but he prefers to shower his affection on people! He is also very playful, and with the right squeaky toy will entertain himself for hours! We are working on reinforcing potty training and his forever family will most likely need to continue this reinforcement. Anthony is crate trained, and is comfortable being crated by himself or with other dogs. You will be hard pressed to find another guy as sweet and attentive as Anthony!

BelliePH ID: #852
Bellie is a fawn female. She is 10 years old. She is an owner surrender due to her medical condition. She came to us with several large bladder stones which needed to be removed through surgery. She has had the surgery and is now recovering. She is in otherwise good health. She is heartworm negative. She will be on a prescription diet for the remainder of her life to prevent new kidney stones. She will also need daily drops to keep her eyes moist. She is current on her vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.

BenjaminPH ID: #866
This 9-month old boy was surrendered by his owners at a local shelter who released him to us because he has luxating patellas. He’s heartworm negative, has a luxuriant coat, and a classic “cobby” build. He’s only 15 lbs now, but will probably grow some more. Bad knees don’t seem to slow down his puppy energy at all!

Billy BobPH ID: #751
Billy Bob is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local animal control facility. We believe he is about 3 years old. He is a very sick little boy right now, suffering from a severe case of pneumonia as well as being severely heartworm positive. We will post updates as his situation evolves.

Update from Billy Bob's foster: Billy Bob is a young fawn male who has been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations. He is heart worm positive and will be treated in a couple of months.

Billy Bob is a well behaved little man. He knows how to sit and use the doggy door. He gets along well with other dogs and children. He was very sick when he was rescued, but now is feeling better and starting to play with toys and other members of our pack. He likes to cuddle as well as play. At times he seems to be talking to me with his soft woo, woo, woo. He will make a good companion in a forever home with lots of love to give once he's over his heart worm treatment.

BitsyPH ID: #787
Bitsy is a fawn female. She is 15 years old and and came to us when she lost her mommy.

BixbyPH ID: #855
Bixby is a fawn male. He is 4 years old. He is in good health; he is heartworm negative. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.

From Bixby's foster: This is Bixby. He is a 4 year old little boy that that needs a forever home. He enjoys hanging out with daddy in the shop doing boy things and as seen in this picture he is waiting for his foster mommy to open the door to the car. He loves going for a ride. Bixby is the best companion. He chills with you when you're tired, plays with the kids and literally becomes your little shadow around the house. He is very intelligent and already house trained.

CleopatraPH ID: #835
Cleopatra (Cleo) is a totally amazing lady! I can’t even begin to guess how many litters of puppies she has had, my guess is she had one every time she was in season her whole life. And the mange she had was pretty bad - she still hasn’t grown all her hair back. But Cleo is a true pug, she has the best outlook on life that she can have. She is very happy, she loves attention, she is very devoted to her human, she is an absolute clown, she is extremely loving, the list can go on forever. I don’t know how she came out of the life she had with such an outstanding personality but she sure did. She makes me laugh and smile just by looking at her. She soon discovered toys and seems to have developed quite an attachment to stuffed ones.

She is really good with the other fosters. She has a tendency to mother them, she does quite a bit of cleaning the ears and face of her favorites. So I guess she was also a good mother, which doesn’t surprise me in the least. It took her awhile to figure out how to get on the couch but once she did she has turned into a couch/lap potato! Cleo loves to be held or just lay close to me in the evenings. Probably one of the most surprising things about her is she has never gone to the bathroom in the house. When she first came she did go in her crate, I guess that was where she was used to going her whole life. But since she’s been with me she seems to have figured out that she can potty outside and her blanket isn’t all wet and stinky during the day. She also may have put two and two together and figured out that if she didn’t pee in her crate I didn’t give her a bath all the time! She really is quite an amazing and intelligent pug.

Cleo has had a pretty rough life but you would never know it by her actions. She does bear the results of being a mother many times over and she will always have larger than normal breasts. Over time all her physical issues will resolve themselves. The most important thing is that Cleopatra has absolutely no mental or behavioral issues that will need attention. She is an absolutely fantastic girl and she will give her new family more love than they can ever imagine.

ClydePH ID: #315
Clyde is a fawn male. He is 9 years old. He was apparently used for breeding, so he has not known what is means to be somebody's pet. As he has not been cared for properly he has tested heartworm positive. He will begin treatment shortly. He has now been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations. He is a sweet little guy who gets on well with other dogs and is not dominant. We are looking forward to helping him find that perfect family for him to live out the rest of his days as a pampered pet.

DenaliPH ID: #824
Denali is a 4-5 year old HW + male, who will begin treatment in early 2012! Despite being found as a stray Denali seems to be use to being a loved pet and has excellent house manners. He has yet to have an accident in the house, and knows to go to his crate when asked. 'D' is an extremely sweet and playful boy, and is comfortable not being the alpha dog. Denali will play with other dogs, but is much happier to curl up on your lap and take a little 'pug nap'. With such a sweet and gentle nature I think Denali do well with children and could be the perfect addition to a lucky family!

DodgerPH ID: #802
Dodger is a very sweet affectionate dog, who appears to be a mix between a dachshund and a pug. He is very strong, energetic and muscular, especially in his hind legs. He tends to pull on the leash and loves to go fast, so he definitely needs a harness. He loves to walk, and is the leader of the pack. As you can see from the photos his nails are very short, he gets a lot of traction on the cement. Dodger is great around other dogs, size does not matter, from Great Danes to Chihuahuas. Friendly with children too and likes to kiss.

Dodger loves to play with the toys and especially likes tug-of-war with the other pugs. He enjoys playing fetch with tennis balls, and he likes to mouth a soft toy when he has settled in his bed. He likes to chew on Nylabones, however he has not chewed on anything else. He appears fully house trained, and will go to the door after eating, wanting to go outside. I have noticed he likes to try to go under fences/gate, especially if there is another dog on the other side. Perhaps that is how he got loose in the beginning.

He likes to chase squirrels and I believe he can catch one if he wasn't on a leash. Unlike a pug, he likes to walk on wet grass, and if there is a puddle will wade and take a drink.

He does not snore, and has been happy sleeping in the office with Jake at night. He tolerated the dietary change well and is the only dog I have ever seen that can eat faster than one of my pugs.

DominoPH ID: #832
Domino is a black male. He comes to us from a local shelter. We believe he is about 3-4 years old. He is heartworm positive and currently has some skin issues that we are treating.

We will post a full bio once he has settled into his foster home.

From Domino's foster: If you saw the pictures of Domino when he came in you would never know that he is the same pug. His eyes had green gunk dried on the actual eyeball and he had huge flakes of skin falling off his back where the bare spots were! He was a total mess!

What a difference a few weeks makes!!! The mole was removed from his forehead, his eyes are cleaned up and his hair is growing back quickly. Not once through this whole process has he been anything other than happy and a true pug. He is an absolute doll!!! He wasn’t very keen to be cuddled when I first got him, he would lay on the couch next to me but wasn’t comfortable on my lap. Last night I had to put him down every time I got up because the first thing he does now is jump on my lap when I sit down. There have been absolutely no problems with him, he is very well behaved with the other dogs and he hasn’t been rude in the house one time!!! I totally love this guy!!!

As a result of his lack of care the dry eye has taken its toll on his vision. He is visually impaired, but I will be quick to point out he’s not blind. He sees just fine to follow me around the house, go outside, come back in. He didn’t even have navigation issues when he first came to me. However, if you want a dog that will sit and read you a book, he’s not your guy.

But on the other hand, if you want a BEAUTIFUL black pug that will adore you for the rest of his life, Domino is your guy!

DottiePH ID: #64
Dot is the matron of the house. She is bossy and will yell at the younger or new fosters that join our house. Dottie is blind, but still manages to chase the new fosters around the yard for a few hours. She is Daddy's girl and loves for him to come home and rub her face. She will reach for him hand and nuzzle her face against him until her rubs on her again. This can go on for hours. We do not have an exact age for Dottie, she is somewhere between 13-16 years old. She came to us from a local shelter where she was taken by her owner. She was blind, skinny and scared the day we took her out of there. She was no bigger than a dot, hence the name. Dottie has been with us for more than a year. She is a happy loving girl looking for a place to be loved for the remainder of her life.

EllaPH ID: #446
Ella is a fawn female. She came to us from an out of state puppy mill where she was used for breeding. She is 5 years old. She did have hookworms but those have been treated. She is in surprisingly good health for a dog forced to live outside. She is heartworm negative. She has been spayed, microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations. Though she is in pretty good health physically, she is typical of puppy mill survivors in that she is quite timid and frightened of strangers. She will need a family who can gently teach her what it is like to be part of a loving family.

Emily And LouiePH ID: #69
This is Emily and Louie, a bonded pair that will only be considered for adoption together as they would be lost without each other.

Emily is a sweet 5 year old fawn female and Louie is a 6 year old fawn male. They have both been microchipped and are current on vaccinations. She has been spayed and he has been neutered. They are housebroken and very well behaved. They are both in good health and no special needs other than a loving home.

From their foster:

Emily - PERFECT little dog, completely potty trained. Emily loves the company of anyone, Men and women, kids and adults. She prefers to be with her foster mom at all times. If you want to play she will play, if you want to relax she will relax. Emily walks well on a leash, and rides well in a car. She is an easy going girl, as she gets along well with both dogs and cats. She prefers to sleep in the bed but will sleep on her own bed also. Definitely is a chunky girl, she loves her treats….she loves all food. :-)

Lou - Sweet little soul. Lou is the most gentle boy I have ever fostered. He is very timid and has made some BIG adjustments since he came into my home. I believe he may have been abused at one time, as he is leary of loud noises and quick movements. He does well with both dogs and cats, adults and older children. He gets VERY excited when his foster mom arrives home and “yips” with excitement, he also “yips” as if he is talking back to you when you talk to him. I’ve never seen a pug wag their tail with as much excitement as Lou. He is ADORABLY cute. He walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. Lou prefers to sleep in his own bed, but will share it with Emily also. He is great at “settling down” when the time is right and enjoys being outside for a few minutes to play. He is an easygoing boy. :-)

EsperanzaPH ID: #713
Esperanza is a black female. She is about 5 years old. She came to us with her "sister" Cassidy after they were found in a lake by a Good Samaritan who rescued them and contacted us. She is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment immediately. We will post updates for these two once we have more information.

FabioPH ID: #715
Fabio is a sweet fawn man who will be 11 years old in March. He has big brown eyes, a great smile and some lovely wrinkles. Fabio is a couch potato who loves curling up next to you during TV time, but prefers sleeping in his bed or on the floor in the evenings. He has a tendency to be a tad fluffy so we go for walks in the evenings. He gets along with dogs he meets on his walks, but I suspect he prefers to be an only child in his day to day life. I sense a touch of alpha in this boy….don’t let his snippiness in public fool you…he is a big marshmallow when home with you. He will look at you adoringly and gives kisses before settling in. I give this squishy boy lots of hugs and kisses back, which he pretends to hate but secretly loves.

He loveslovesLOVES people but I sense that really is not interested in sharing his humans or his space with any other pets so if you are willing to make him your one and only, he will be perfect for you! Except for some minor seizure activity (which requires no medication) and a touch of arthritis (which does) he is in great health for a senior and will make a wonderful pug for the right home.

FlipPH ID: #849
Flip is a fawn male. He was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. It doesn't look like anyone has been looking after this poor boy for a while. He is a very tiny boy - about 10 pounds! We will post a full bio once he has been checked over by our vet and settled into a foster home.

GagePH ID: #741
Gage is a 7-8 year old male. He came to us from a local kill shelter. Gage does not see well and lost one of his eyes due to significant damage prior to coming into rescue. Gage loves his people, but is not fond of other dogs. I believe that Gage lived in a very cruel environment and associated the noise of other dogs around him makes him feel unsafe and he will lash out to defend himself. He seems fine with the old men in my house, but would be a best fit for a single dog home. Gage is housebroken, heartworm negative and ready for his perfect home. Are you the perfect place for a sweet boy to learn trust and feel love for the rest of his life? Gage is waiting for you.

GarthPH ID: #828
Garth is a fawn male. He comes to us from a local kill shelter. He is 2 years old. He is heartworm positive and has begun treatment. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From Garth's foster: GARTH is an easy-going, extremely happy, smart, curious dog. I am having so much fun with him. He loves to play fetch. He loves tug-o-war. Since he entered our home I have set up a toy box again. He rummages through it to find the toy he wants to play with that day. Garth's potty training was completed very quickly so that is not a problem. He loves to go on his 2 walks a day. He is a friend to every dog he meets, and is wonderful with folks of all ages.. This dog is a lover not a fighter. I see him as a wonderful addition to a family with kids. He loved to play and sleeps right beside you in bed. Just a great dog.

Garth is being treated for heartworm at this time. He is doing well.

GherkinPH ID: #312
Do you remember our "Pickle" pug imposter? Well, here's our latest "Gherkin!"

We were asked to take in a stray "pug" but when we picked him up we could obviously tell he was no pug. However, he needed us so we took him in. We think he is a poodle/terrier mix and is about 5 or 6 years old. His is a little guy. Unfortunately he is severe heartworm positive so he will begin treatment shortly. He will also be neutered. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He's a really sweet boy who just loves attention.

From Gherkin's foster: He is very sweet and trusting. He is almost blind but learned my home and yard quickly. He has completed HW treatment. He would do best with another dog for a companion. He loves to sleep in the bed and be hear his person. He gets along with other animals, plays with toys, enjoys being outdoors if with another dog or person.

HelenPH ID: #636
Helen is a fawn female. She comes to us from a transfer from an out of state rescue. She is 6 years old. She is in good health except for her vision - she is blind. She is current on all vaccinations, microchipped and spayed.

Helen doesn't look anything like she once did. She is quite full bodied and very beautiful. Her blindness doesn't really slow her down. Once she is comfortable she gets around great. She follows the sound of your steps or a snapping of your fingers. When she is confident that you are watching out for her she can get moving very fast. She barks at the others as they are playing around her and at times she tries to join in. If one of them gets on her pillow, however, she will stand on them. It is hilarious. She likes to be in a routine. Whenever I have made changes to it she seems to get a bit depressed and unsure, but after a few days she is back to her perky personality.

Don't shy away from a blind dog. They require a little more attention to make sure they don't get themselves into trouble, but that only bonds you together all the more. So if you are looking for a precious package to take care of and love you can't miss here.

HerculesPH ID: #287
Hercules is a 7 year old fawn male. He comes to us from a local shelter so his history is unknown. He is severe heartworm positive and will begin treatment immediately. He has been brought current on his vaccinations and microchipped. He has been neutered.

From Hercules' foster: He has completed heartworm treatment and is clear. He is gentle and wants to please. He appears to have been abused but is learning to trust, though he hides from loud noises or if he gets scared. He gets along well with other animals but is really a loner. He does love to be held and sit on your lap. He loves children. He would do best in a quieter environment.

HugoPH ID: #850
Hugo is an eight year old pug that came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is HW negative and was neutered. To say that he is overweight is an understatement, he almost rolls when he walks. He has a hernia that will need to be fixed but he needs to lose several pounds before that can be done.

Hugo is a big, sweet hunk of pug! He’s not overly active (probably because of his added poundage) he really likes to just lay on the couch with his chin resting on my leg. I’m not sure why he’s so fat, he doesn’t seem to be overly obsessed with food. I’m hoping that his diet was not the best and with just eating the correct amount of dog food he will gradually drop the pounds. Hugo does have his playful moments and because of his size it’s really quite amusing to see him get frisky. He has a very expressive face, you can tell by the way he looks at you how intelligent he is, the wheels are constantly turning. He’s also the perfect housemate, he potties outside and doesn’t keep his bedmate (namely me) awake by snoring. However, he does have a few faults, he trails water all over the house after he gets a drink (which is why I have tile floors) and he has periodic issues with REALLY bad gas (which is getting better with the diet, thank goodness!). All of his good qualities totally outweigh any negatives he may have!

Hugo seemed to be a little depressed at first, which is not surprising for an eight year old pug that was no longer wanted by the only people he had ever loved! But he seems to have turned the corner and his ears are back up and the tail is once again wagging. He’s a sweet, loving guy so let’s find him his truly forever home and keep his tail wagging forever!

JanPH ID: #762
Jan is a fawn female. She was found wandering the streets with no tags or microchip. We believe she is about 4 years old. She is missing her right eye.

From Jan's foster: Jan is a sweetheart of a girl who is learning how to be a spoiled pug. She gets along well with the other dogs in the house, but really likes to hang out with her Mom. She makes all kinds of funny noises when breathing. Sometimes, it sounds like we have a lion in the house! Jan has the softest skin and coat and loves to have her belly rubbed. She has put back on the weight she lost while out on the streets, and her coat is filling back in nicely. Jan is looking for a stable home where she can be loved for who she is!

JanePH ID: #473
Jane is a wonderful fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter where her owner surrendered her due to her age. We think there's nothing wrong with an "experienced" pug, so we snapped her up and promised her a new (better) home. She is heartworm negative and is current on her vaccinations. But most importantly, she is a lively little girl with personality plus!

From Jane's foster: Jane is one of the most beautiful senior girls I know. She is 10-12 years old. She was taken by her "family" to a local shelter to be put down. There is NOTHING wrong with her...except she is a little bossy to the young pugs.

Jane is great. I call her Mama Bug, because she likes to keep the young ones in line. She will run after them barking if she thinks they are being too noisy or playing too rough. She really works to keep Jasper in line He is her special project. I love her. I have many fosters that come through my home, but Jane holds a special place in my heart. She is such a darling, squishy girl and she needs a great family that will spoil her rotten for the remainder of her life.

JodyPH ID: #241
Jody is a 9 year old fawn female who came to us from a local animal shelter. Therefore, we don't know anything about her past life. She has been spayed and is current on her vaccinations. She has been microchipped and is heartworm negative.

From Jody's foster: Jody is doing better than ever! She is getting around quite well despite a little arthritis. Daily walks and playing with any and every toy are two of her favorite things to do. She would do well as an only dog so she can be more spoiled than ever, but she also does quite well with other dogs as long as they don't have to share food and toys! She is a big cuddle bug. While she loves to lay around, she is quite the spunky little old lady. She is currently on a much-needed diet and has already lost a little weight! She sleeps on her own bed at night, but would more than love to be in a real person bed as well. Be warned, this little lady can snore with the best of them. Additionally, she has very proper house manners... she is proud to share that she is completely house trained! She does have some mild vision loss, but this has never and will never stop her. Jody "Foster" loves her retired life and wants to share it forever with someone very special.

JojoPH ID: #633
JoJo is a fawn male. He is 7 years old and an owner surrender. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has now been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From JoJo's foster: Jojo was rescued from an abusive backyard breeder. He lived outside on gravel, was underweight, heartworm positive, had bad teeth, was very suspicious of people and other dogs at first, and was fearful and guarded around food or chewies. After a month in our foster home he has transformed into a "velcro dog", and is accepting of all people and other dogs, including strangers. He LOVES to snuggle, and is a total love sponge. He spoons with you on the bed or couch, and will share your pillow, too. He's completely housebroken, and has even discovered toys. He will play tug of war with humans, but surrenders the toy to other members of the pack. He is no longer wary of strangers, and is very calm and loving. This guy will make an awesome companion, and is just waiting for his heartworm treatment to be ready for his lucky forever home.

JosiePH ID: #338
Josie is a 6 year old fawn female. She comes to us from a local animal shelter and it is believed that this poor little girl was a puppy mill survivor. She how now been spayed, microchipped and brought up to date on her vaccinations. Thankfully she is heartworm negative. She does have degenerative hip disease, which means her hips are weak. She would be ideally suited to a home with no stairs or with a family that doesn't mind carrying her up and down. She's a sweet girl who is learning to love attention and deserves to find out what it's like to be somebody's cherished pet.

JoyPH ID: #847
Joy is a fawn female. She is around 3 years old. She was found wandering in a busy street with no tags or microchip. She is about 14 pounds and small, but BIG on love.

From Joy's foster: This little girl is so much fun. She LOVES to play with other dogs and toys - especially her with her foster brother Elmo. They love to wrestle and play chase. She's so happy all the time. She has decided that her nemesis in this world is the vacuum. She's not afraid of it - but rather she makes sure it knows that she's boss! As much as she likes to play, she is also a champion snuggler too. She is crate trained (although she's not a big fan of being in it if you are around...ie at night!) pretty much housebroken, as long as you are letting her out consistently. Joy is heartworm positive, so she'll have to go through treatment, and does have some hip issues, so is on anti inflammatory medication. It doesn't slow her down a bit. You must meet this girl - she truly is a bundle of JOY! :-)

KatePH ID: #846
Kate is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. She has been spayed and has had her left eye removed due to an injury she had suffered before she came to us. She is current on her vaccinations and has been microchipped.

From Kate's foster: She is a sweet girl that likes to cuddle but she can show her alpha side at times. She is very smart and has learned to use the doggy door and when I point to her crate and say come on Kate she hops in to be fed. We are working on the command sit and I think she will master it soon. Kate is house trained. She likes to play and wrestle with the other pugs and sleep with her humans. She gets along with children and other dogs. I think she would do best as the only dog or with only one other playmate that's willing to let her be the boss. Are you willing to give Kat the forever home she deserves?

KingsleyPH ID: #470
Kingsley is a fawn male. He comes to us from an animal control facility. We believe he is about 8 years old. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. We don't believe he was an inside dog in his prior life due to his heartworm status and the fact that he was not housetrained. He is learning quickly what it's like to live indoors, and seems to like it!

From Kinglsey's foster: He is a real sweetheart. He loves the other pugs and gets along well with other breeds when we walk. He does demand attention though when the other dogs are around. They usually all sleep in one bed in the office during the day and he sleeps next to me at night. He does this cute thing where he will sit down next to one of the dogs or a person and he just rests his head on them, like he is on the pic on Rosie (see additional photos)

KitkatPH ID: #795
Kit Kat is a gorgeous brindle little girl. She is a tiny active little thing, she is still young so she has lots of energy to let out. She is sweet, a cuddler, but she is also happy just laying by herself. She sleeps in bed with me, she enjoys her sleep time just as much as she enjoys her playtime. She is not afraid to stand up for herself if she feels threatened by another pup, she will let them know, in her mind she is probably about a 100 lbs, lol. She has not had a single accident in my home and knows how to use the dog door. She is a small, young girl and will give someone something to look forward to coming home to each and every day. She makes me smile every day!

He has had some skin issues, but is doing much better now. He is heartworm negative, housebroken and a real love.

Lazer would like nothing better than a home of his own where he gets all the love and attention in the house.

He is a love sponge and is happiest when he is near you.

Lazer has some vision issues due to dry eye and will need drops daily to help prevent this condition from getting worse.

If you are looking for an older gentleman to give all your love to Lazer is waiting.

MalcolmPH ID: #799
Malcolm is a 7 year old male. He is heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. He came to us with damage to his eye. The eye was removed to make him more comfortable. He has recovered well and has no problems adjusting to his new vision. Malcolm loves to play with soft toys and will wrestle, throw and talk to his toys while playing. Malcolm does well with the other dogs in my home and would do well as an only dog or with others in the house. He is a sweet boy and a real joy to have in the house. If you are looking for the perfect mix of playful and cuddly, then Malcolm is your baby.

MasonPH ID: #550
Mason is a fawn male. We believe he is about 6 or 7 years old. He was discovered living alone in a backyard - it seems his people moved away and left him behind in the yard. Thankfully, this little guy is pretty resilient and doesn't seem upset by much of anything. That's a good thing since he has a few issues to deal with. Since nobody was looking after him he is heartworm positive. He will begin treatment shortly. Also, he has severe vision problems. We're not sure that he sees much of anything, but that hasn't kept him down! He never runs into anything and finds his way around just fine. He is housebroken and would make someone a wonderful companion. He is just as sweet as he can be. And look at that face! How can you resist?

MatildaPH ID: #534
Matilda is a fawn female. She is a senior - probably 10 to 12 years old. She comes to us from a local shelter. She is deaf and has serious vision impairment. She barks only when the others are barking (even if she has no idea why). Matilda is a grand old lady looking for a comfortable place to rest her tired body. She is heartworm negative and we believe that we feel an old spay scar. Matilda is on ear and eye meds.

MattPH ID: #728
Matt is a fawn male. Matt is an active and happy 4-5 year old male. Matt keeps my house in constant motion. He runs, plays tug of war, chase and whatever other activity he can find to do. He will play on his own, if he is unable to convince the others to play with him. Matt is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and ready to find that forever home that can keep up with him.

MaverickPH ID: #433
Maverick is a fawn male. He is about 6 years old. He comes to us from a local shelter where somebody dropped him over the fence one night. Poor fella - he's a sweet boy who deserves far better than that! He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations. He is a healthy boy but understandably a bit frightened of strangers.

From Maverick's foster: Maverick learned the dog door in two tries and appears to be housetrained. He enjoys going on his walks. He will start barking at the beginning of the walks and when he sees another dog. I think he is just excited and letting folks know he is there. When he meets dogs in the streets there is no aggression. It was reported he might be food aggressive but we haven't seen it. He joins in with the excited barking at feeding time then runs to the utility room where he eats. He picked up the house routines/ schedules quickly and moves with the pack. He is more interested in his interactions with the humans in the household. When I arrive home he will immediately pick up a toy and walk around showing off to me and ready to play. I have not seen him get into play with the other dogs in the house. He has done a little bumping of dogs but that has been the extent of any issues. If a dog complains back, Mav has backed down. He likes to sit closely to me when we are in the same room and he currently sleeps in a crate next to my bed. He is a nice little companion. I could see him as an only dog giving all of his love to an individual or family.

From Mina's foster: Mina is a cutie . She has a very strong personality and is pushy to get attention. But once she has you, she just wants to crawl up in your lap and cuddle. She gets along well with other dogs and is not shy around strangers- but you can tell she wants to belong to one person that will treat her like a queen. She is good on leash and responds well to instructions, seems to be very bright.

NaomiPH ID: #822
Naomi is a senior black female whose owners surrendered her to a local kill shelter because they “had too many dogs.” She is heartworm positive and has no evident spay scar. She’s quite frisky for a senior gal, and is likely housebroken, since she never had an accident in her cage, and immediately went potty when she got to some grass.

From Naomi's foster: Naomi is a doll. She is the happiest pug in my home. Naomi is severe heartworm positive and we are in the process of doing a split treatment for heartworms. This means that she is not going to be ready for her forever home for a few months, but she is well worth the wait. Naomi is housebroken and joyful. This girl has stolen my heart with her big smile and joy for life. Naomi is about 5-6 years old and has not had the best life so far. She loves everyone…human and pets. More updates as we move through her treatments. Keep the good thoughts for Naomi coming. She needs them.

NickPH ID: #675
Nick is an adorable fawn male. He is 9 years old and an owner surrender. He is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From Nicky's foster: Nicky came to us severely underweight and with a history of eating foreign objects. After 6 weeks in foster care he has not tried to eat anything other than kibbles!! I think he was just hungry. He has had 3 seizures in the past and is now on twice-a-day medication for that.

He came to us housebroken. He was very shy around both humans and dogs, but is now starting to trust, and it's a joy to see. Nick was stressed and nervous about his change in situation, which caused him to break out in a massive hotspot on his back. That is clear now, and the fur is growing back where it was shaved. He has a little arthritis, and prefers not to jump up or down from the couch or bed but would rather be picked up. He has discovered snuggling on the couch is a WONDERFUL thing, and will also follow us around the house. The tail that was always down is now curling as it should be. He has even started to play!

This special boy needs a calm environment, lots of love, and a gentle touch; I'm sure he'll continue to come out of his shell and discover that the world is not just a mean, scary place! He deserves to have his life filled with all the love and care he was looking for.

OakleyPH ID: #815
Hi! My name is Oakley! Right now I live with my foster parents, my brother Barkley, and my sister Izzy. Even though my brother and sister are a bit temperamental and weren’t very welcoming to me at first, I quickly earned their love and friendship with my positivity, charm, kindness, and obvious good looks! Now I think they’re going to miss me when I get adopted by my forever family! While I am currently living in a full house and would prefer the company of another dog or two, my foster parents think I would do just as well by myself. Also, even though Barkley and Izzy sleep in bed with my foster parents and I often take naps with my foster parents in bed, they currently make me sleep in a kennel at night, so I’m hoping my forever family will let me sleep in bed with them and spoil me!

I love to play and can get mischievous at times, but I also love to lie around, relax, and cuddle with my foster parents while they watch football or college basketball. I can also be very talkative at times and have a tendency to speak my mind, but ever since my foster parents have started squirting me with water I’ve gotten a bit quieter.

Even though my name is Oakley, my foster dad has started calling me Gene Simmons from the band Kiss because I like to lick a lot and have a really long tongue, but I’m just trying to shower my foster parents in kisses! Although I am very happy with my current living situation and love my foster family, I hope someone will allow me to fill their home with my warm personality.

OliviaPH ID: #841
Olivia is a fawn female. We believe she is about 4 years old.

From Olivia's foster: Olivia was found wandering by a law enforcement officer and we were called to pick her up so she would be immediately safe. It was during that first really cold snap and it just breaks my heart to know how cold and terrified she must have been. She is HW negative and has been brought current on her vaccinations. She was obviously someone’s pet, she was spayed and had her left eye removed when she was found. The condition of her coat and body was such that she looks like she just got out and was lost. This is a perfect example of why all pets should be chipped, she would be back home with her original family if she had a chip.

Olivia was terrified when she first arrived. No matter how much she was held and reassured all she did was shake. For the first few weeks she was a very quiet and subdued little puggy. She ate but left quite a bit of food in the bowl (yes, I’m not kidding a pug left food in the bowl!). Over time she has become much more relaxed and has started acting like the cute, little girl that she is and she is also eating properly. She has blended in perfectly with the household, she is housetrained and she gets along great with everyone. In the last week or so she has even started playing. Olivia is an exceptionally loving little thing, she constantly wants to be touching.

Olivia just needs to have a home where she is loved and kept safe from ever being lost again. She is quite sensitive and needs to have lots and lots of love and attention. If you have the love to give her she will be quite satisfied with life because that’s all she wants.

OtisPH ID: #564
Otis is a gorgeous fawn male. He is an owner surrender. He is 9 years old. He is in good health except for being a tad overweight and having a touch of arthritis. He is heartworm negative. This sweet boy needs a nice relaxing home where he can live out his golden years being the pampered companion he is meant to be.

OttoPH ID: #579
Otto is a fawn male. He is 8 years old. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is heartworm negative. He does have severe dry eye and will require daily eye drops. He also seems to have a bad left knee.

From Otto's foster: Otto is such a fun little guy! I really don't think he knows he's an old man, because he sure doesn't act like one! He loves to be held and cuddled, and follows me everywhere around the house. His fur is VERY soft, and he enjoys being brushed. His eyesight doesn't seem to be very sharp, so sometimes he bumps into furniture or people, but after he gets his daily eye drops he seems to get around pretty well. He gets along great with my other two dogs (one small and one big), unless of course there is food involved (in that case we just separate them). He sleeps in a kennel so that he doesn't have any accidents in the house overnight, and loves being in his kennel. Unlike a puppy or younger dog, he is not too energetic and rowdy. At the same time, he has plenty of energy to play around, but will still be calm enough to take a nap with you :). I really hope that Otto is not overlooked just due to his older age, because he is so loving and would make anybody a very happy pug-parent.

PatsyPH ID: #153
Patsy is somewhere between 14 and 17 yrs old. She is a talker and will scream until she gets what she wants, usually your total attention. She sleeps in the bed and prefers to sleep at the foot of the bed so that she can monitor what is going on. She has had a few mast cell cancers develop, but has had no issues in the last several months. She loves her Daddy and will follow him everywhere he goes. Patsy is a great companion and is looking for a comfortable place to live out her life.

PaulinaPH ID: #667
Paulina is a sweet black female. She comes to us from an animal control facility. We believe she is about 7 years old. She was suffering from a wound to her back which we believe was the result of being hit by a car. She has since undergone surgery to close the wound and repair any damage. She seems to be a very lucky girl as she is on the mend and doing very well. It does not appear that she will have any long-term effects. She is heartworm negative. She has not been spayed but will be prior to placement. She has been microchipped and brought current on her vaccinations.

From Paulina's foster: Paulina is an adorable little spit-fire. Even though she is very small (about 10 lbs), she knows that she is tougher that all of my other bigger dogs put together. Maybe it's her rough past that has made her tough. Poor girl was found after being hit by a car and had a big gash on her side that was bleeding. She was immediately taken in for surgery and we were not sure if she would make it through. But Paulina did make it through and no sooner did the anesthesia wear off, than she was up on her feet bossing others around. I don't know anything about her past but Paulina also seems to have and old back injury that makes her walk kind of hunchbacked. But even this doesn't stop her from getting around and getting her needs met.

PaxtonPH ID: #662
Paxton is a fawn male. He was found with no tags or microchip. We believe he is about 5 years old. He appears to be in good health; he is heartworm negative. He has been neutered, microchipped and brought current on his vaccinations.

From Paxton's foster: Paxton is a sweet old man. He loves to stay very close to his human and snuggle. Sometimes when he can't get to his human, he panics and makes a high pitched chirping noise. The closest thing I can compare it to is a baby allegator. It's hilarious, but the funniest thing about Pax are his bottom teeth which protrude out from his lip. It would make him look angry if his eyes weren't so bulgy and innocent.

I fell in love with Paxton immediately. When my husband brought him home, he let him in the back yard but when I went out to see him, I couldn't find him. Eventually, I found him cowering behind a banana tree looking sad and scared. So I took him in and loved him and he's been my shadow ever since. We love him but we would also love for Pax to have a forever home where he can be spoiled and get to sleep in a human bed every night.

PenelopePH ID: #483
Penelope is a fawn female. She comes to us from a local shelter. We believe she is about 10 years old. She is heartworm negative. She is suffering from general neglect - bad eyes, skin and teeth. She also has tapeworms which we are treating as well as a mass on her belly which we are having evaluated.

From Penny's foster: Penelope (or Penny as I call her) has settled in quite well. When she first arrived she had quite a large mass on her stomach and it was discovered that her spleen and intestines were hanging on the outside of her body. Well no wonder the old girl was having some trouble walking! She had surgery to repair the issue and has made an amazing recovery.

Penny is a very sweet lady. She is quite friendly and likes be on my lap to take her naps. If I have a lap full of other fosters at the time she is just as willing to go to her little bed by the couch and take her nap there. She is a very easy going old girl. As with any senior, she isn't a ball of energy. She does still have quite a funny walk with her back legs being a little crooked from old age and I think from having the tumor so long. But she gets around just fine and seems to be enjoying her life now.

To my surprise she is completely house trained, she has never had an accident in the house. Penny would rather not have to deal with other dogs. She will growl at them if they get too close to her face. She isn't mean by any stretch of the imagination she just doesn't like to have them get too close to her; however, she only growls at them if they are the aggressor. Who knows what has happened to her in her life to make her like this.. I correct her anytime I hear her do it and she is beginning to be more tolerant of the others invading her personal space.

Penny sure is a sweet, loving, and undemanding little lady. Even though she is 10 years old that really isn't that old for a pug, she's got a lot of good, happy years left in her future. She really deserves someone to give her a safe, warm home and let her know that she is going to be loved for the rest of her life.

PetePH ID: #839
Pete is a fawn male. He is current on his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He is in otherwise good health.

From Pete's foster: Pete was the first foster that I've had come into my home and there was no type of 'initiation' for him from the other dogs in the house. He walked in, acted like he was right at home, so the other pups treated him as such, it was like he has lived here his whole life. He is potty trained and has learned the dog door since being here. He is a more keep to himself kind of guy when it comes to the other pups and their playtime, but he will cuddle with them and he loves to cuddle with his people. He is so sweet and it certainly didn't take long to fall in love with him and I imagine the lucky person who picks him will fall in love immediately as well.

PhilPH ID: #161
Phil is a sweet fawn male. He came to us from a local shelter, so not much is known about him. We estimate he is between 8 to 10 years old. He has been brought current on his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. He does have 'dry eye' that is so common in pugs. Due to this he has suffered some vision loss. He is on medicated drops and will need those daily for the rest of his life. Otherwise he is in very good health with no further issues.

UPDATE from Phil's foster Mom: Dr. Phil - True to his namesake DR Phil is a handsome gent who aspires to have his own talk show. He is a loyal fellow who would gladly guard hearth and home with his mighty little bark and his keen wit. In between his rehearsing he likes nothing more than a soft toy, a kind word and a soft lap to snuggle. He actually may just have the perfect puggie tail with just the right little twist. He has it all- personality, charm, loyalty and an analytical side should you need a kind soul to talk to - making him a lot of personality in a compact package. He is not fond of cats ( he knows what they are thinking) but might consider them on a bun with horse radish- just kidding - he barks and they saunter away.

PopseePH ID: #793
Popsee is a 1 1/2 year old tan male. He is an owner surrender, heart worm negative, neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations. We believe he is a mix with a boxer somewhere back in his family line. He has a unique color and doesn't shed as much as a pure pug (which is a good thing for those with allergies).

Update from Popsee's foster: Popsee has been with me for about a week and a half starting in the 2nd week of January. This is a sweet but active young dog. Only 1 and a half years old. We have started basic obedience and work about 45 minutes a day where we combine hard walking and training. He also has 2 shorter walks a day after meals with the other dogs. He is making good progress on training. He is learning sit, stay, wait, come, finish (where he has to walk around behind me and sit at my side). Next will be down/stay. And, of course, he is learning "watch me" and has improved so much on leash walking. He is not pulling anymore.

This is NOT your couch potato pug. Popsee is active, curious, and smart. He is very treat trainable and enjoys workouts with the obedience training. I can see him with someone who wants a dog to jog with, and he would be a great agility dog or one to get into fly ball. He likes to be involved. On the other side, in quiet times he will retire to his crate where we have left the door open, or he likes to sit in my lap chewing on a toy.

When I am not at home he is currently crated. I do not make him wait longer than about 4 hours. He has learned to use the doggie door, and has had only 2 accidents which is par for the course when a dog enters a new home. He understands correction.

I like this funny little guy. The person who adopts Popsee will want to continue his obedience training and define his boundaries, and, consider other fun activities like agility or fly ball.

RexPH ID: #176
Rex is a fawn male. He is around 7 years old. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He suffers from dry eye and needs daily drops.

From Rex's foster: Rex is an easy going dog who loves people and gets along great with other dogs. He is such a sweet guy! He likes to spend most of his time on the couch but does like to play occasionally. He needs daily eye drops for dry eyes which is common in pugs. I started giving him a treat after I give him his eye drops and now when I am finished with the drops he gets excited and runs to the kitchen to wait for his treat . He was very quick to pick up on this routine! He's a smart boy and a good listener. He is for the most part house trained but has had occasional accidents. He is a little fluffy so is currently on a diet but is doing well and already seems to be losing some weight. Rex is such a joy to have around. All this guy needs is a forever, loving home with a comfy couch to nap on.

SampsonPH ID: #191
Sampson may look familiar to some of you. He was a former rescue of ours (known as Elmo.) He is about 4 years old.

From Sampson/Elmo's foster: Meet Elmo! Elmo has an interesting story. He came to Pughearts as a puppy back in 2007. He unfortunately went missing, and we were unable to locate him. Then in 2010, we were contacted by a local animal shelter, informing us that they had one of our dogs. Lo & behold it was Elmo! (Those microchips work folks!) We don't know where he's been all this time, but it looks as if he wasn't in a horrible place. He is not afraid of humans.

Elmo is now about 4 years old, and as you can see, he is not 100% pug. We think he is a pug/boxer mix. What I can tell you is that he is 100% sweet! He loves to snuggle with his human. He's obviously bigger than a pug, but not as big as boxer, never-the-less, he thinks he's a lap dog :-) Elmo gets along well with our pugs, he loves to play with them. He is crate trained and pretty much housebroken. He is mild heartworm positive, so he will have to go through treatment, but is otherwise healthy!

You have to meet this guy to understand his true charm! He would do great with an active owner, although I think he'd do just as well in a quiet home too. So, if you are looking for the funny, loyal, loving characteristics of a pug, but would like a dog that could do a few more active things - Elmo is your guy!!

SherlockPH ID: #829
Sherlock is a fawn male. He is 2 years old. He was found wandering the streets wtih no tags or microchip.

We will post a full bio for Sherlock once he has been seen by our vet and has settled into his foster home.

From Sherlock's foster: Well, I don’t know what can be said about Sherlock except that he is probably one of the cutest pugs that has ever been born! And I am not exaggerating! Just look at his picture! He’s really quite small for a male at 13 pounds, his body and coloring are perfect and he has a fantastic mask! He will acquire a new look in the next week or so. His jaw is broken and will be plated, so his tongue will no longer be hanging out all the time. I’m glad that he will be better but I will sure miss that look when he sits and stares at me with those very expressive brown eyes, tongue hanging out and cocking his head from side to side.

You would never know that there was a thing wrong with him. He is the most playful little guy in the house…. well second most playful, Howie takes first place! At first he played with any toy he could find but after awhile he has shown a very big love for little tennis balls. He still likes to shake the stuffed toys around but his favorite thing to do is run all over the house hitting the ball with his hand and chasing it wherever it goes. He has discovered that when it rolls under something if he scratches at the floor and then sits and looks at me I’ll get it out so he can continue playing. Smart little guy too! He’s a very well behaved pug also. The only issue I have had with him was he developed a very possessive attitude about anyone getting around me. I addressed the issue and he seems to understand now that there’s enough love to go around for all pugs.

After his jaw surgery Sherlock (and isn’t that a great name!!!) will also have to go through HW treatment so he is a few months away from being able to go to his forever home but if you think he would be a good fit for your family he would be well worth the wait!

SigPH ID: #848
Meet Sig, PugHearts' first 3-legged pug. This charming senior gentleman came from a local animal control where he was picked up as a stray. His amputation was obviously many years ago and he gets around quite well. He must have had a rough time of it on the streets. He has skin issues, he's heartworm positive and has some fresher injuries to one of his back legs which look suspiciously like dog bites. The latter cause him to limp a bit, which is not easy when you've already got a 3-legged gait! Even so, he is a charming (and handsome) fellow who sat very calmly on my lap through the rush hour traffic.

SophiePH ID: #868
This wonderful little pug is Sophie. She is a fawn female with a little black down the middle of her back. The vet estimates her to be around 10 years old. She comes to PugHearts because her owner died there was no one to take care of her so she was surrendered to a shelter. She is heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.

From Sophie's foster mom: Sophie is one of the best pugs I've ever fostered. She is such a sweet dog and just wants to be around humans. You can tell that she was very loved in her former life. She is housebroken, but she does not like to be crated. Her favorite things are napping while her humans are around, going on walks and eating (she is not food aggressive).

She gets along well with other dogs (big and small, pug and non-pug), but she isn't looking for a playmate. She is perfectly fine to sit by your feet or next to you on the couch to hang out. She also enjoys sleeping at the foot of the bed. She does seem to have a little trouble hearing and seeing things at a distance, but that doesn't slow her down.

Sophie will make a wonderful companion to a loving forever family.

Suzy is a fawn female. She is 8 years old. She has been spayed, microchipped and is current on her vaccinations. She is heartworm negative. She is in good health.

Suzy is a bird dog trapped in a pug's body. She has made it her mission to seek out and alert me to birds lurking in bushes and hanging out on power lines around the yard. Suzy likes to swim and gives our lab a fit over having to share the water frisbee.

Suzy has a gruff personality and acts like she doesn't need attention, when in fact she secretly loves it. We are working to resolve an allergy issue by keeping her on strict diet free of grains, dairy, etc. She will make some lucky person, or family, a great pet!

Tater is a fawn male. He is 4 years old. He came to us from a local shelter. He is heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. When he came to us he was suffering from mange but that has been treated. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations.

VelvetPH ID: #814
Velvet was picked up wandering by animal control so we don’t know her history but it’s obvious that she wasn’t well cared for before she hit the streets. She is approximately 3 years old, heartworm positive and she has been a mother on more than one occasion. But she has now been spayed, brought current on her vaccinations, micro chipped and is ready to find her forever home.

Velvet is very well named! She is a as soft as velvet both inside and out. She’s a small, extremely beautiful black girl and very laid back and loving. She is constantly by my side and if I get up she’s right behind me. Velvet also seems to be housetrained, there hasn’t been one accident since she arrived. Velvet doesn’t need the company of other pugs, she is perfectly content to be the one and only receiving her human’s devotion. She really likes to snuggle up next to me in bed, she will lay down and not move for the rest of the night.

Velvet’s personality is going to develop over a period of time, I’ve had her for a few weeks and I can already see her becoming more secure. I’m not sure how she reacts to young children because she isn’t exposed to them at my house, but her disposition is such that I can’t imagine Velvet not adoring anyone that will give her love and attention. She’s a gentle, special little lady and all she needs is love and attention (and a few pounds). Velvet will be a perfect fit for someone that has excess love just waiting to be shared with her.

VinPH ID: #792
Vin is a young happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He is small bundle of joy. He would do best in a home with other pets that would enjoy playing with him or going to the dog park on a regular basis because is a young boy with lots of energy to release. Then when his energy is spent he is ready to take a nap, either cuddling with me or just laying down minding his own business. He is a very well balanced little guy, I am surprised at how good he is for as young as he is. He knows how to use the dog door, though he is still learning exactly why he is supposed to go in and out of the door. We are still working on complete housebreaking, when he first came into my home since he was not famiiar, he did a bit of marking, but since that first day I have only found a couple of accidents, we are taking him out frequently to teach him the proper place to go and he is learning quickly. He is an absolutely adorable little guy. He is crate trained during the day when I leave the house and in the evenings I have no problems with him either sleeping in bed with me or sleeping in a crate. He deserves a great loving home to spend the rest of his life with, he will truly make some family very happy!

WestonPH ID: #760
Weston is a fawn male that we believe is about 5 years old. He comes to us from a local kill shelter. He has obviously been out on his own for a while; he is severe heartworm positive and was covered in fleas. The fleas are being treated and his heartworm treatment will begin shortly. He will also be neutered. He has been brought current on his vaccinations. We will post updates as he progresses.

From Weston's foster: Weston came to us with a "cone" collar to prevent him from bothering his stitches due to being neutered so we renamed him Conan (plus his reddish color of hair reminded us of Conan O'Brien). He is a pug mix, but has the BEST qualities of the pug breed and whatever he is mixed with because he's just the sweetest dog ever! Conan is very laid back and gets along perfectly with our other three dogs, including our alpha female who doesn't like many dogs. He is housebroken and goes to the door to let us know he needs to go out. He doesn't beg for food, he's a great car rider and he prefers to sleep on the floor rather than the furniture, but will cuddle if you rub his head and chest. He's very loving, but more independent than pugs usually are. He is really just the sweetest dog and has a loving disposition. He is great with kids and would make a wonderful pet for anyone.

WillowPH ID: #859
Willow is a fawn female. We believe she is about 3-4 years old. She was found as a stray and taken to a kill shelter. She is heartworm positive and has an undeveloped eye. She is in otherwise good health. She has been brought current on her vaccinations and microchipped.

WinstonPH ID: #434
Winston is a fawn male. He is 9 years old and is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. He is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccinations.

From Winston's foster: Winston has completed his heartworm treatment and is clear. He is slowly gaining some weight. Though he gets along with other animals he would love to be an only dog. He is mostly housetrained but is eager to please. I think he has been abused and is therefore a little wary at first. Plus he has some vision issues with the dark. But once he learns the house routine he relaxes and gets on fine. He is a cuddler and likes to be able to touch his person when sleeping at night.

YodaPH ID: #226
Yoda is an 8 year old fawn male. He is an owner surrender through no fault of his own. He has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his vaccinations. He is now heartworm negative, having gone through heartworm treatment. He is in pretty good health but does have some residual heart damage which means he needs daily medication to keep his heart strong. He also suffers from 'dry eye' which is so common in pugs. He will need daily drops to his eyes to keep him comfortable.
